Why Do People Use Medical Marijuana?

If you are new to the world of medical marijuana, then you may feel a little bit overwhelmed when confronting the sheer amount of knowledge and complications that one must understand when working in this industry. The number of products available combined with the intricacies of state policies in the United States can make the whole thing very complicated. However, today we are going to be talking about why people use medical marijuana. The first thing that might come to your mind when I mention using medical cannabis is treating chronic pain. Now, this is definitely one of the most common uses for using medical marijuana. Chronic pain can be described as any form of pain that lasts for three months or more.

It can happen from day to day or a few times a week. Chronic pain is a huge problem for a lot of people in the United States, so much so that it is commonly listed on all sorts of different medical marijuana programs across the nation. However, there are many other qualifying conditions for using medical marijuana, and some of them you may not have heard of before. Today we are going to be talking about other types of uses for medical marijuana besides chronic pain, and hopefully we can begin to see more states in the United States accept other forms of pain and disease for using medical marijuana. So make sure to keep reading!

Other than chronic pain, medical marijuana is also commonml;y used to treat things like PTSD, cancer, and anxiety. PTSD is one of the first forms of mental health illness that was treated by using marijuana, and PTSD dates back to the start of mankind. PTSD stands for post-traumatic stress disorder, and it is a disorder that occurs in patients that have undergone some severe traumatic event.

Though the concept of PTSD is not completely understood, we do know that people that suffer from PTSD are unable to successfully process these traumatic events in a way that significantly impacts their mental health and wellbeing. This form of mental health disorder is commonly found among United States veterans who have fought in a war and seen some terrible things. Interestingly, PTSD is the most-stated reason to use medical marijuana in the state of Connecticut, perhaps because this is the state with the highest population of veterans. Anxiety is also a very common disorder among the American public, especially generalized anxiety and social anxiety. Many Americans use medical marijuna to treat these conditions, as it can help in de stressing and also relaxing. Cancer patients have also begun to use medical cannabis to treat pain and nausea related to chemotherapy, which is a type of cancer treatment that can be very hard on the body. Basically, medical marijuana belongs in healthcare as an alternative to over the counter medications as well as prescription medications.

When it comes to using medical marijuana, the important thing to keep in mind is that the laws differ from state to state. Some states only allow patients to use cannabis under very strict guidelines that do not allow certains strains and certain types of products. Other states are much more lenient about what they will allow, and a very select few states will let any adult over the age of 21 use marijuana for recreational purposes. If you are dealing with a chronic health condition, whether mental or physical, it could be worth talking to your doctor about applying for your own medical marijuana card or something like that. I hope that this was helpful!

There is one thing for certain about consuming cannabis - there’s no right way to do it! Depending on who you ask, some people prefer topicals, creams, oils, dry herbs, gummies, edibles, etc. There are so many different ways to use marijuana that it is really up to you at the end of the day. Marijuana extracts have become really popular in recent years with more legalization in states throughout the country. However, what is a marijuana extract? Basically, it’s a concentrated version of the main chemicals (like THC) that are found in cannabis. These extracts are usually produced in some sort of wax form.
